Here's another car I couldn't pass up last summer. It is a 1967 Saab 96. These cars are front wheel drive. This one had been sitting in a field for over 25 years un touched. The previous owner was a Saab enthusiast who was going to convert this one to electric. Apparently he bought it from someone in the San Juan islands where it had been most of it's life. I filled up the tires, winched it onto my car dolly, and drug it to my shop. it didn't take much to get it running again. It has a V4 engine with a 4 speed on the tree. These cars were made in Sweden. They have quite a heater in them! this car was missing its bumpers and many small items when I bought it. I recently found a guy in Massachusetts that had all the bits I needed to complete it. Its a lot of fun to drive. If you happen to need older Saab parts  let me know and Ill pass you his contact information. You'll see it at the Street Rats Car Club Friday night cruise in beside Covington Walmart  in western Washington this summer.

Yesterday I put a nicer and matching correct set of hubcaps I bought off eBay on the car. I've  included is a picture of the wheels after I sanded, repainted them and installed the tires. These tires came from amazon along with the Porta walls (fake white walls) They were very affordable and didn't take much weight to balance. I think all in tires and porta walls were less then $500.  the bias ply tires that were on the car when I got it looked very cool but I plan to drive this car quite a bit so safety is important. I saved the best of the original tires for the spare. That manual tire changer and bubble balancer sure has saved me a lot of money and time over the years!

Today I learned about the Lenco transmission. Which is basically a manual automatic with planetary sections you lock with individual clutches. Introduced in 1972, built to eat torque. Clutch to launch, then rev-match and slam the next lever. Pretty wild. How it works:

1970 E Type  2+2 Jaguar. I Bought this a couple months ago from the estate of the original owner. It had been sitting in a garage almost untouched since around 1986. It had no keys  and obviously not in a running condition. ill be digging into it by February. Look for it this spring at the Maple valley street rats Friday night cruise in beside Walmart in Covington WA

This 1953 Hudson Super Wasp had been sitting in a building since 1979 untouched. I bought it from the estate of the former owner. It's 308 is running again and soon to be driving. After the brakes are refreshed. Believed to have had 3 owners.  Benton county Washington car. i have registrations dating back to 1962. Notice the light up grill emblem. That is a factory accessory.  You'll see it this spring at the Maple valley street rats Friday night cruise in beside Walmart in Covington WA .
