Here's another car I couldn't pass up last summer. It is a 1967 Saab 96. These cars are front wheel drive. This one had been sitting in a field for over 25 years un touched. The previous owner was a Saab enthusiast who was going to convert this one to electric. Apparently he bought it from someone in the San Juan islands where it had been most of it's life. I filled up the tires, winched it onto my car dolly, and drug it to my shop. it didn't take much to get it running again. It has a V4 engine with a 4 speed on the tree. These cars were made in Sweden. They have quite a heater in them! this car was missing its bumpers and many small items when I bought it. I recently found a guy in Massachusetts that had all the bits I needed to complete it. Its a lot of fun to drive. If you happen to need older Saab parts let me know and Ill pass you his contact information. You'll see it at the Street Rats Car Club Friday night cruise in beside Covington Walmart in western Washington this summer.

Funny, when I was a kid I did not like these, but as I got older I started to appreciate them.

@BuickGuy68 Same here. it really is a fun car to drive. I couldn't get all the pictures to load but will add more later. It actually cleaned up pretty well. I think I will respray the hood but other then that i think the rest of the paint is usable as is.

Wait, I just looked at the second photo. You got that to run???? Wow.

@BuickGuy68 ill get more pictures of it up asap. I have a video of its first start and run but I don't think this web site supports video.

Haven't see one of those in years. Definitely something different. Had a kid back in HS that drove one.

I also did not pay attention to these when younger and now I think they are really cool. Could you post a driving video? Would love to hear it going through the gears.

@alsancle I have a video of the first start and run but i need to figure out if I can post it here.

@59redwing You can upload videos just the same as photos. I do not believe there are any restrictions on size. If you can't figure it out let me know and I'll go find the help video.

Saab seems quite content as a defense contractor. I knew they made fighter jets, but had no idea they make submarines and all sorts of other military industrial equipment. Pretty wild. https://www.saab.com/products
It wouldn't surprise me if in the future, some organization buys the Saab Automotive brand rights and comes out with a new fleet of EV vehicles.

@SpeedRacer
They went back to their roots from the 1950s.

@SpeedRacer ill post more pictures when I can but if you look at the logo on that car there's a plane in it. Also apparently if you look at the front of the car dead on it is supposed to resemble a plane with the headlights being the engines.
