Yesterday I put a nicer and matching correct set of hubcaps I bought off eBay on the car. I've included is a picture of the wheels after I sanded, repainted them and installed the tires. These tires came from amazon along with the Porta walls (fake white walls) They were very affordable and didn't take much weight to balance. I think all in tires and porta walls were less then $500. the bias ply tires that were on the car when I got it looked very cool but I plan to drive this car quite a bit so safety is important. I saved the best of the original tires for the spare. That manual tire changer and bubble balancer sure has saved me a lot of money and time over the years!

700-15? Do you mind me asking what you paid? I've been buying from Coker and it is not cheap.

Tires have become crazy expensive.

@69GoatMan and they don't seem to last anywhere near as long!

Tires look great. How big is your shop? I've been trying to build my own shop for the last 40 years.

@BillSmith Weeellllll? not all my stuff fits in one shop so i have 3 buildings at different rental properties I own around Western Washington state. Currently working on repurposing a barn with a concrete floor for another 3 car building so I can get more cars under cover.

6 tires and 8 tubes from Coker (I don't trust the tubes so 8) and a 2500 bill. I will admit that 700-18 is an odd size but still...

@alsancle Those tires look great! If i didn't have so many cars I would have bought Cokers for the Hudson. Alas, I still have two kids I'm putting through college right now! the next car getting expensive tires in my collection will be my 1970 E Type Jaguar when I get started on it.

@59redwing Totally get it. Used to be that tires were a cheap way of improving a car fast. No more.
Do you have a tire truer to use on those bias plys? I've been looking for a used one forever.

@alsancle I have an old school bubble balancer. bought it at a swap meet years ago. its easy to use if a little slower than a spin balancer but the nice part is you can simply slide it into a corner when not in use. Takes less then a minute to level the feet.

@59redwing I want an old school tire shaver. We had one in the shop years ago but it was a loaner and the guy solid it out from under us.
