Not really car related but it's my day off.
I play with motorcycles too. Here's my own "not going to sell it, ever" machine.
This is a 1980 Moto Guzzi Lemans II
It's dressed up as a 1978 850 Lemans and has the factory race kit. Twin plug heads, Dyna ignition, LaFranconi exhaust, Bitubo fork cartridges, Works shocks, Tarozzi rearsets and Norman Hyde M handlebars.
The colour is from a Ferrari 275GTB that was in the shop for service. The bike was originally red but when I saw that car, I told my painter "Make it that blue!"
It's an uncivilized, loud, obnoxious, hooligan bike and I love it. #sgmechanicalservice #ifixstuffyoucant

Looking for a working glovebox light switch for a 1955 Buick.
It looks like this but with the plunger intact.

For my first post, I thought I thought I’d share a couple period photos of one of the ultimate Hupmobiles. The model H and U of 1930-1932 shared the same 133hp 365ci straight eight. At the time of its introduction, the model H was touted as having the highest power to weight ratio of any mass produced car in the country. This is the model H five passenger sedan.

Restoration, or maybe interpretation.... I don't have all the original pieces or access to another truck, or even pictures, in which case I take the approach, it has to look good and it has to work. In the case of the doors, I have the originals but am still having to make minor alterations. The front edge of the original doors had a piece of steel trim that is mising and that is beyond my sheetmetal fab skills to replace, so I filled the gap with wood. The latching hardware is missing/worn out, so what i'll do is use repro outer handles and adapt them to bear claw latches. Not purely strictly original, but not every budget allows for that.

On February first on a balmy 18 degrees as the sun was fading fast I drove our latest acquisition the 10 or 12 miles home. Car ran great with maybe two hours of run time on the engine. I hate the cold but hardly noticed it despite not digging out the side curtains. At least the frozen roads were bone dry.

We bought this 1931 Ford Model A Deluxe roadster from a friend who I grew up with. I have known the car for nearly 50 years, and it was the first prewar car I ever rode in sometime around 1977 if I remember right. A classic hobbyist restoration that shows some age today but did really well back when most shows were judged and a ton of As was normal.

I thought I might post this initial entry and add to this thread over a couple more posts to take anyone interested from the mid 70s restoration through the day last Spring when my friend called to let me know he was thinking of selling, buying it last Fall and waking the A up to find a previously unknown headgasket leak and subsequent damage to 2 cylinders leading to an engine rebuild.

Here are a couple pics. Test drive, starting teardown later that day and taking advantage of a couple 50 degree days in March. More to come soon!
