Honestly one of my favorite cars, not super fast but super cool.

Tossed the diff parts into the ultrasonic while I was working on customer stuff today.

I think I found a solution to needing an apprentice. Give it dirty parts and they come back clean! I can also verbally abuse it and not have to hear about it later..

Diff gears are in fantastic shape, shouldn't give any trouble.

Brake equalizer set up, park brake rods cut to length and installed on the park brake shaft. Rocky Mountain brake rods installed and connected to the brake equalizer.

The link from the brake pedal (center) pushes on the brake equalizer which pulls the brake rods and actuates the Rocky Mountain brakes. The Rocky brakes should be adjusted to come on -just- before the driveshaft brake, in case there's an issue with either system.

The hand brake lever is attached to the park brake cross shaft. The cross shaft pulls on the brake rods attached to the park brake cams in each hub. When the cross shaft rotates forward, it also pushes on the brake equalizer which engages the Rocky Mountain brakes.

All three systems have to be balanced to work with each other. It sounds far worse than it is.

Something’s a little out of place here… I was on vacation in Maine last week the same time the Owls Head Auction was going.  I was with my son and he says oh, I love that red Corvette.  It was so low, I raised my hand!   Whoops.  59,000 miles and all original.   

Now, what do I do with it?

@Edinmass egged me on (he's good at spending other peoples money).   I've been looking for a distributor tester for the last 18 months or so.  Most need to be shipped or worked on.  Finding a working 504/404 Sun 45 minutes away forced my hand.

🚗 You Bought a Car 1,500 Miles Away — Drive It Home or Ship It?

You finally find the car you've been looking for.

Perfect spec.
Good history.
Right price.

There's just one problem…

It's 1,500 miles away. 😅

Now you have two choices:

✈️ Fly out, pick it up, and make the long drive home.

or

🚛 Have the car transported to you.

For a daily driver, I can understand both options. A long drive home can actually be part of the fun.

But what if you just bought a restored classic?

Or a low-mileage collector car?

Or something you don't know well enough yet to trust on a 1,500-mile road trip?

That's where I'd start thinking seriously about transport.

A few things I'd check before handing the keys over:

✅ Open or enclosed carrier?
Open transport works well for many everyday vehicles. If it's a classic, exotic, restored, or particularly valuable car, enclosed transport may make more sense.

📸 Photograph everything before pickup.
Front, rear, both sides, wheels, odometer, and any existing marks.

🔧 Tell the transporter about modifications.
Lowered suspension, oversized tires, non-running vehicles, or unusual dimensions can matter when loading.

💰 Don't automatically choose the cheapest quote.
I'd want to understand what the quote actually includes and how the vehicle will be handled.

And one more thing people sometimes overlook:

Door-to-door transport doesn't always mean the carrier can pull directly into your driveway.

A large car hauler may need to meet you nearby if the street is narrow, has low trees, sharp turns, or parking restrictions.
