Today we took the car to the show at Rhinebeck, NY. Great drive through farm country there and back. 140 miles round trip and not so much as a hiccup out of the engine. Despite all of the scenic photo ops, I didn’t think to stop and get any pics. The drive was too much fun to stop but I did get one shot of the car all cleaned up before we left.

Interesting cars at Mecum Indy 2026. I think this is their second biggest sale behind Kissimmee. Dana Mecum is a fan of prewar cars so you will see a mix besides the musclecars and late model stuff. I'm a fan of many different cars 1900 to 1980. Not so much after that. Here are a few I really liked.
I owned this exact car except a 69 instead of 70 and mine was a CJ not an SCJ. The 428SCJ engine designed to not blow up on the drag strip . The "drag pack" option with the SCJ was a simple as ordering a 3.90 and above rear ratio. Of course, that made the car undrivable on the highway.
A SCJ four speed convertible is a SUPER rare thing. They made 3.

As a fan of all independent brands, I’ve always liked Nash. In particular, they’re bigger cars from the 20’s and 30’s. I have some photos of a 1920’s Nash dealer with an Ambassador in front and an earlier big touring car in the service department.

2004 Seattle Chandler Meet
We have the great privilege about twenty years ago to visit the greatest collection for Chandler cars and literature ever assembled. Our host Roger Anderson has been an avid collector and historian for longer than I have been alive. He has saved so many Chandler cars and pieces of the Chandler history over the years. Here are a few photos from that event:
The green sporty touring car (disc wheels) is a 1922 Chandler Royal Dispatch, one of my favorite models. The Lozier was brought by @Lozierman to show us all where Chandler originated from. Many great memories from this event.

Last car of the trip, a 1910 Sears Model L Runabout.
I have a long history with this one.
New wheels were made by Stutzman.
I rebuilt the engine a few years ago and made a few modifications. Chevy 454 pistons were a perfect fit and much lighter. Torrington needle bearings replaced bronze thrust washers.
The new pistons increased the comprsssion so Harley Davidson compression releases were added to make cranking easier.
A Holley NH carburetor was installed to replace the not-original bronze Kingston carburetor which didn't run well at all.
New fan blades were made because the originals were cracked.
The original sprockets and chains were very worn so I made new, larger driven sprockets to slow the thing down a little and give more power for climbing hills. New chains were also installed.
This car has an air cooled flat twin, friction drive and is probably the only hot-rod Sears on the planet.
The new sprockets cut the top speed down from terrifying to mildly frightening. #sgmechanicalservice #ifixstuffyoucant #sears #prewarcars #mobilemechanic
