Dr. Karl Hens of Thoroughbred Motorsports has a remarkable collection of rare Porsches, along with an impressive stash of parts and other automotive treasures. If you’re a Porsche fan, this one is definitely worth a watch.

Some of the collection is headed to auction through Broad Arrow and Hagerty Marketplace this October.

On another website there is a little info on Howard Marmon's last escapade before moving on. Their 16 was modified to a V12 and a new monocoque body was made; a little Pierce-esque. It has some interesting looks from some angles and less gainly ones from others. The performance is said to be quite good and reached 113 mph. One prototype was made and exhibited a Pebble a few years ago. it sold at auction for over $400K. Here are a few photos from RM Auctions. It would be neat if more than this example existed to attempt experienced comparisons with other "greats" of the era.

This might take me all day, but I'll get through it.  Attended @parkerspackards Cars and Coffee yesterday morning.  Cool clear Sept morning,  totally great weather.   Parker and his wife Sheri run a restoration shop in Rutland Massachusetts focused on Packard.   I have known Parker and Sheri for quite a while and have participated the last two years in their Bennet Foundation Tour.

They formerly had the shop in an industrial condo in Holden Mass.  They built this new shop a few years ago.  It is a nice setup and the parking lot is probably just big enough to squeeze in 40 to 50 cars.   The good news is there is a great trailer parking lot 200 feet down the road if you need to pickup or dump a car with a big transport.

Parker started out as an upholstery guy and has since become proficient in all restoration skills.  He's still a "young" dude in his 40s.   Smartest thing he ever did  besides marrying Sheri was specializing in Packard.  Although you will find a Marmon V16 or Caddy V16 and others in the shop occasionally.

New sprockets for the Raleigh arrived and machining has started.
The new sprockets won't be an exact replica of the original system but they will be a very functional system.
The original sprocket is 51 teeth which is very strange. I can order 50 or 52 tooth sprockets but not a 51. I could make an exact sprocket but the time and effort involved isn't worth it. I have a second, equally worn out sprocket in the parts bins if anyone ever wants to make it perfect.

Everyone puts modern truck lights on their pre war cars when they really didn't exist. Here is a very early example of added lights. Looks like Ohio was so dark they wanted more lights. Notice the lady in the heavy winter fur coat, and no leaves on the trees. Mud is to a minimum, so it's either dry or frozen. Notice no front wheel brakes......so it's an early American Ghost.

Pretty incredible suspension engineering and feature.

These books basically do not exist anymore. They are the holy grail of collecting literature from the 1930's. This is a singular example I was able to purchase. There are dozens of cars with information posted in it. I have many similar items for Cadillac from the 30's as well. Enjoy! Ed.

Found this bottle at my local Costco. Almost bought it. Very cool packaging. Found this recipe for a cocktail on the Jack Daniel's and McLaren website linked below. Might have to give this a try over the weekend.

LAST LAP LEMONADE:

1 ½ oz | 45 ml Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
¾ oz | 25 ml Lemon Juice
1 oz | 15 ml Mandarin Liqueur
1 oz | 15ml Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Bitters

Shake first five ingredients. Strain over ice into Collins glass. Top with Ginger Beer. Stir. Garnish with mint sprig.
