Inspecting the transmission and rear axle on the 1914 Pathfinder.
Nothing broken, no teeth lying in the bottom so that's good!
Found some questionable hardware cranked into the front side of the housing.
The steel seems very soft and someone has stripped most of the threads that hold the axle to the torque tube so I'm going to be fixing those and replacing hardware.

Mother Nature must have decided that I had too much time on my hands. The town where my shop is located got hit by a microburst while the storms were rolling through at the end of the heatwave on Saturday. Only a 1/2 mile swath but there are trees everywhere, including on top of many cars. The first of them started rolling in today. I’m going to be busy for months. Plenty of cars got hit with hail too. No rest for the wicked.
Model T engines leak oil. I've added seals to everything I can and here's my final trick to making these things oil tight. The corner where the hogshead meets the engine block and oil pan is particularly bad.
A shop vac hose is connected to the oil filler, a vacuum gauge is installed in the oil check port. All other openings are sealed up with aluminum tape and the vacuum is turned on. A hose in the ear is used to listen to all possible points of leakage. If there's a hiss, some MotoSeal, a very thin rtv used for motorcycle and snowmobile engine cases is applied to the leak until it stops. Once there's no more hiss and you see a rise in the vacuum gauge, you know everything is sealed up. I gained about 1 inch of mercury during the sealing process.

Now I know why the '65 Comet runs badly. Whoever was in here last lost the pump discharge check ball and weight!
I've got a new ball for it but I'm going to have to make a new weight.
Most of my paying customer work seems to be undoing what the last shop did.

The Tuthill GT ONE is probably the coolest Porsche-inspired build I’ve seen in years.
It captures everything that made the 911 GT1 Strassenversion so special without feeling like a retro copy. Carbon body, around 2,650 lbs, manual or PDK, naturally aspirated or turbo flat-six… and somehow it still looks like something Porsche could have built.
Singer makes me appreciate craftsmanship. RUF makes me appreciate engineering. This thing just makes me stare.
