Missed Hershey this year but it's been a productive week!

So between Grandma Bear duties and an aging dog we didn't think would enjoy the trip we scratched Hershey 26. Hope those who could go had a blast.

I had Wed - today to myself and each car got a day. Oil change & lube on the Packard and sorted some odds and ends. Mounting 5 new tires for the A consumed most of yesterday and cleaning up the SL today - we are representing the R-107 series MB SL at an event in town next weekend featuring MB and I don't want to be totally embarrassed...

What small projects are you working on?

Nice. I count 3 collector cars and 2 garage spaces? Does the "A" get left under a cover?

I think Steve is hiding his other garage behind the camera.

I've been hung up on getting my REO transmission packed and shipped. Was hell bent on using my testers on what I think are some bad condensers but have not been able to focus enough to sit down and do it. I have been gradually organizing my parts though.

I'm trying to get my shop organized so I can squeeze another car in before winter.

· 3w

Me too. All the outside stuff I have been working on needs an inside home in the next month.

Steve, my big constructive (as opposed to building shipping crates) project is to test some coils and condenses using either my sun machine or my Electro products testers. Should be super simple but I need to focus long enough to read the manual and sit there and do it.

Love the leaves scattering everywhere.

@@Ralph71. Leaves are ok now but in a couple weeks it isn't pretty anymore!

Another 4 or 5 hpurs on the 560 SL yesterday, we are ready I hope for next weekend.

Steve, is that a homemade firewood wheel chock I see on the garage floor?

· 3w

Sure does!

· 3w

That’s a surprising level of redneck engineering for a guy from “The Valley”. 😉 You sure you don’t have a bit of hillbilly in you that you’re not telling us about, Steve?

· 3w

Travis I absolutely have blue collar hillbilly running rampant in my veins!

The chock was dad's - I remember using it to assist in the Fall & Spring tire chageovers on several 60s - 70s GM boats as a child. Been in my garage for maybe 30 years...We built the wooden ramps as well - tossed my steel ones a long time ago!

The old tire change. Studded snows on the back allowed all those rear wheel drive cars to plow through the snow. back in the 70s, 4x4 was a rare sight.

· 3w

Well, the studded snows didn’t always work.

My small project for the day was trying to track down and eliminate some squeaks and rattles. Only limited success there. One was the front bumper bar rattling against the spring bracket due to the previous owner having a run in with a deer while on a club tour years ago. The spring had a botched “repair” done to get it roughly back into shape. Needed another 1/8” clearance to stop rattling. One bent scissor jack later, no more rattle.

A lost art Travis.

Someday I need to find a good bumper bracket but I’m pretty sure it’s model specific so it’s not like there’s a ton left on the world.

I got tired of the capillary style of fuel gauge on my Auburn so I bought an electronic setup and a converter from 6 volt to 12 volt. Now hopefully I will know when I am running out of fuel.
