Back in 1926, French inventor Andre Mercier came up with this crazy experimental car, nicknamed the “Crashless” car.

The idea? Instead of trying to stop a car from crashing, why not build one that could basically roll through an accident?

It was called the “Acrobatic Auto,” and yes, it actually does what you’re probably imagining.

Almost 100 years later, it looks completely ridiculous… but you have to give Mercier credit for thinking outside the box when it came to automotive safety.

While vacationing in North Fork, Long Island, I spotted this sweet Wagoneer!

I came across this book by Jan Melin on supercharged 8-cylinder Mercedes. Goes into a surprising amount of detail on each car. Had various paper clippings throughout when I found it which is cool. Wondering if anyone knows more about it.

So many amazing cars. And some really unusual and interesting ones that you would not expect to see in a hillclimb. Great watch.

The barn topic I created a few days ago strayed off in to metal buildings and post and beam barns.    A few years ago when was trolling Florida real estate I was not gonna buy I stumbled on to the coolest barndomimium.  I sort of knew what one of those was but this really hit home for me.  It sat on about 10 acres and was basically a 40 x 100 foot metal building with 14 foot side walls.   The living area was two stories in the front and took up about 30 feet of depth.   Total living area was around 2400 square feet.   The garage was awesome.  That was 70x40 with 4 huge garage doors on both sides so you could drive through.   

This place was brand new and the ask was around 800k.     That got me paying attention to barndomiums.   Are they something you would ever consider?

Delivered the Model T today and was presented with this.
It's the fan from a 1908 Buick model 10.
Evidently a blade departed the fan hub and the imbalance bent the mount. Luckily it didn't damage the radiator.
Looks like I get to make a fan hub. Not sure I would trust a used one at this age.

But in all seriousness, I'm thinking about getting into RC airplanes. Seems like it'd be really fun to build and maintain these and also learn how to fly them properly. Seems like quite a bit of skill is involved in piloting these. Can you imagine how expensive this jet-powered RC plane must be? Especially given the size?
