Club Policies & Guidelines

1. Membership

• Membership is open to anyone with an interest in European classic cars. You do not need to own one. The Associate tier exists for members between cars.

• Dues run for twelve months from the date of joining. A thirty-day grace period applies to annual tiers; after that, membership lapses and the registry listing is hidden until renewal.

• Family Annual covers two adults at the same address. Both may vote at the annual meeting.

• Applications are reviewed by the committee. We have declined exactly two applications in fifty-two years, both for conduct at another club's event.

2. Conduct

• Treat other members, their cars and their choices with respect. Opinions about the right way to restore a car are welcome; sneering is not.

• Harassment or discrimination of any kind ends a membership immediately and without refund.

• Forum discussion should stay broadly automotive. Politics belongs somewhere else.

• No member may use the club's name, badge or member list for commercial solicitation without written committee approval.

3. Driving events

• Public roads are not a race track. On tours and runs you drive to the posted limit and to your own ability. Anyone driving in a way that endangers others is asked to leave the run, and that decision is not up for debate on the day.

• Cars must be road-legal and insured. Marshals may decline a car with visibly unsafe tyres, brakes or steering.

• Groups are capped at six cars. Do not close gaps at junctions — the route card exists so you do not need to follow the car in front.

• Track days require a Snell SA2020 helmet or later and a passed tech inspection. Novices are assigned an instructor for their first two sessions.

• Participation is at your own risk. The club carries event liability cover, but it does not insure your car.

4. The car registry

• Listing a car is voluntary and free to members in the Individual, Family and Lifetime tiers.

• Chassis and engine numbers are visible to signed-in members only, never to the public.

• The Registrar may ask for documentation before confirming a rare or significant car. Listings found to be knowingly false are removed.

• You retain copyright in your photographs. Uploading them grants the club a licence to use them on this site and in Coastline.

5. Concours judging

• Classes are set by year and type, published each January. The Judging Committee's decision is final.

• Cars are judged as presented. We do not deduct for honest patina, and we do not reward incorrect over-restoration.

• A car driven to the show receives a preservation credit. A car trailered to the show does not. This is deliberate.

• Judges may not judge a class in which they have entered a car.

6. Vendor directory

• Listings are earned through member recommendation, not paid for. The club takes no commission and accepts no advertising fees.

• Member ratings and comments are the members' own. The club does not edit them, and a listing is not an endorsement or a warranty.

• A vendor with a sustained pattern of unresolved complaints is removed by the committee.

7. Privacy

• The member roster and directory are visible to signed-in members only. Contact details are never sold, shared or exported to third parties.

• You control what appears on your own profile, including whether your location is shown.

• Emergency contact details are held for event safety and are visible to committee members only.

8. Amendments

These guidelines may be amended by a simple majority at the Annual General Meeting. Proposals must reach the Secretary twenty-eight days beforehand and are circulated with the agenda.
