I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this. A mobile EV charging station from 1901, charging a Columbia Electric. There’s nothing new under the sun. I wonder how long the portable station took to charge.

TRAGIC SNOWGLOBS - Was roaming around the galleries in Santa Fe, NM today and these caught my eye.. So sick they are hillarious!

I found these two photos from 1931 of prototype specials that were designed and built by Budd Manufacturing. Both are pretty wild. The two door sedan has some interesting details that I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere else. The four door, though, is way ahead of its time. Anyone have any thoughts as to what chassis they could be built on?

Divco Mini GoKart.  Trolling Facebook today I saw something new to me.  Having been a fan of watching the delivery truck parade at the AACA Hershey meet each year I have seen vintage Divco Milk trucks.  But this was something new.    Located in Altoona Penn with no description but a price of 5k.

More work on my customer's 1911 Model T Ford.
I always use some Permatex copper spray-a-gasket on these copper head gaskets. It helps them seal and lets them come off easy for the next time with minimal prying and scraping. I also put a little whiff of copper RTV around the coolant passages and head bolts to keep coolant in the coolant side and out of bolt holes.
I've found copper gasket quality has gone down over the last few years. The last MGB head gasket I put in heaved coolant out because the fire rings don't crush enough for the rest of the gasket to seal properly.
Head on and torqued with new head bolts. Henry doesn't give a torque value beyond "tight with an X long wrench". 55ft/lbs seems to be the accepted value. Head was torqued to 25, then 45, then 55. Once it heat cycles, I'll torque it again.
Engine is turned nose-down. Transmission is placed on the crankshaft, bolts installed, torqued and safety
wired.
Clutch finger height set. The little bolt has been machined to exactly 13/16" to use as a gauge. You can use a wheel nut too. Once the height is set, the cotter pins are installed.

Interesting crowd at Pebble Beach finding me fascinating. Seems if you drive on the field with a car valued in the multiple millions, you become more attractive to the ladies. When I said I was single, they started flirting aggressively. It's always a good time there.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to stopping rust. I’ve started coating the underside of my new truck before it even sees wet roads for the first time, let alone road salt. I’m still researching which product I’ll use on the exterior of the chassis, but I’m leaning toward WoolWax. In the meantime, I’m coating all of the interior cavities in the frame with wax rustproofing. The two foot wand with 360 degree tip comes in handy for spraying the inside of frame rails and crossmembers     I used three full cans of product in the frame rails alone,  basically filled it until it ran out any holes. That’s a start anyhow.
