When You Realize You’re Officially An Old Car Nerd

I just had a moment of self-realization. No sooner do I open the envelope with my latest vintage photo acquisition, an old post card from an antique car museum, when I notice that they mislabeled the car. I tell my wife that the museum got it wrong, it’s a ‘32 and not a ‘34. Without missing a beat she responded “How dare they?!”. I’m pretty sure she was mocking me.

So it’s official. I’m THAT guy. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Good for you Travis! I've been know to also help out sellers on eBay when they incorrectly list a Chandler item :-)

I've been known to message ebay sellers to correct them. I hoping it will help me get in to heaven.

Great photo!

Love the photo Travis. Wonder where that car went?

I have messaged eBay sellers before just to correct their advertisements. It is a thankless task as some just ignore you and others will argue.

You see the incorrect eBay listings all the time but this is the first time I’ve seen an actual museum goof.

I would assume that this car would have been in the museum if they put it on a post card. I can’t find anything about the museum though, so I don’t know when it would have been active. I suppose it’s possible that it could be one of the few existing F-222 sedans left. There are five or so in the club.

When I had to explain to the museum docent that his described starting procedure for the Peerless he was showing me was dead wrong.
You don't wind the engine over with the crank like you're trying to extend the awning on your motorhome and no, It doesn't take two people to start it, if it did they would never sell.
You close the choke, bar the engine over a couple full revolutions to get fuel in the cylinders, retard the timing, open the throttle a bit, turn the ignition on and pull the motor past top dead center quickly and it should fire.
His way is good for getting a broken hand.

It's almost as bad as watching every person in a movie who hand-starts an airplane try to throw themselves into the propeller. You never pull down, it makes you fall forward.
You pull on the tip of the blade from the bottom, back towards you. That way, if you fall, you fall away from the propeller.

That makes complete sense. I just learned something.

Tying the plane down (or really chocking the wheels good) so it doesn't start coming at you is also paramount.😀
