Doble Water Pumps
Once I stripped down the first Auxiliary unit it became apparent that almost every moving part inside was worn out , from small gear sets right through to the crank shafts and con rods.
this post show the process involved in re making the water pump plungers, they are two part with the main cross head from cast iron, at this stage machined on a lathe, next opp will be in the mill to do the internal details and gudion pin. the two parts are then screwed together and the thread swaged over so it can not unscrew, before both outer diameters are ground to size to ensure concentricity. the first picture shows the state of the original plungers
