Blackwalls VS whitewalls again

Here is yet another example of why I strongly push for black wall tires on fully chrome wheels. When you have a white wall on a fully chromed wheel, it just drowns out the chrome. The owner of this car may be convinced, but he’s whitewalls all the way and has stock in bleach white cleaner.

Is this a replica? A blue top boot matching the paint would also make it look better. 3 of the late collectors around me were doing blackwalls on their Packards and Duesenbergs in the 1980’s and 90’s well before anyone else in the area. They got criticized for it back in the day. I remember the conversations about this years ago. If you look at old ccca or acd magazines from that era very few cars had blackwalls besides some of the European stuff.

Yes, a replica. I wondered too because of the wheels and asked Tom.

I'm often on Team Black Wall, but in this case the light gray mid-section and light top make the white walls viable if not the better choice. Agreed, though, regarding white walls and chrome wheels. As TPH noted, a darker top would help.

For me, with chrome wheels I think you need to go black regardless of the paint color. Painted wheels or hubcaps I think you have more lattitude. For example, this Packard looks ok with the whitewalls to me.

The door hinges, what looks like a door lock, and the seeing through the wire wheel to a small brake drum gave it away to me. The seat top also looks too high to be authentic. I should probably get a hobby-
