I actually really like the interior. Clean, modern and simple. I like that the key is on the left. The rumor is the price will start at $500k+.

First, there is a key? Second, it is on the left?

Actual key. Actually on the left.

How many new cars actually have a key I wonder? I should ask GROK that question.

All Porsches have the key on the left as a nod to the original LeMans races when the drivers had to race across the track, jump in their car and start the engine quickly. If driver had the key in the left hand they could grab the shifter in their right. The video of the infamous 1955 race actually shows Jaun Manuel Fangio accidentally getting his pants leg stuck around the 300SLR's shifter and delaying his start. As we know unfortunately that wasn't the cause of Mercedes loss that year.... Back to Porsche. If you have keyless entry you don't need to whip out the key but there still is a turn-knob still on the left in order to start. We're on our 8th Porsche (why, I don't know) and it's actually easier to see the key on entry versus cocking one's head around the steering wheel to the right to find the slot on the column, or for Mercedes, on the dash. I usually have the key inserted on mine before I am physically across the threshold - so it works. On the other hand I back-up really slowly as the visibility sucks so maybe the concept actually doesn't work.😁

I'm just amazed there is even a key. Most cars of the last 5 years I have been in are all keyless start with a pushbutton. maybe the last 10 years.

This car stirs an old memory. When I was 16 the first manual shift car I ever drove was my father‘s Chevette. After having my license six or seven months, the second manual shift car I ever drove was my uncle‘s 930 turbo. My uncle encouraged me to get my foot all the way into it and so I did. The Delta between those two cars seemed like infinity to me. And now, look at this. Just incredible.
The perfect car for one of my buddies to buy

John, that is awesome your dad had a Chevette! I think I remember you telling stories about it. You need a picture and we can create a topic.

They still can’t figure out what side an ignition switch belongs on, huh?

😂

At least it's not mounted vertical in the center console, next to the cup holder. What could go wrong?
Saab, I'm looking in your direction...

You were reading my mind with SAAB. And if that wasn’t enough, they made you put it in reverse to get the key out. Good grief

I'm gonna start a topic on the Tesla Roadster

Go do that so I don't have to do it.
