It was 10 out of 10 October weather for a drive today. This is why I put 1,000 miles on this car during the fall last year. Best time of the year for taking the long way everywhere.
Please disregard the dirty windshield and rattling shock absorber links. Both are on my list.
Travis, I think New England gets maybe 4 to 6 weeks of the best weather in the world in the Fall. 65-70 degrees, bright sun and no humidity. Unfortunately, it doesn't last.
I wish I had something to drive right now. I try to get some some decent fall color photos just when the leaves are peak. This is one from a few years ago.
Doesn’t last but it’s a good month. Almost makes up for February. Almost.
February is way better than January and usually better than December. By mid February you have the same amount of sunlight as right now.
I can usually tolerate the early months of winter, it’s the lingering symptoms that drag out through February and March that get old. Like Garrison Keillor said “March is the month that God made to show people who don’t drink what a hangover is like.”
Nice Jag @alsancle! Personally, if you live north of the Mason Dixon, I find he end of Nov in to Dec the worst. Gray and gloomy and often cold. You get towards the end of Feb and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

From a couple years ago. Little British roadsters are built for fall color driving on quiet offbeat roads.
The passenger looks pleased with the ride.

Sadly no…. I have a close buddy who’s really into British cars and he wanted it and asked me for it when I was feeling guilty about how neglected the car was. He took it and spent six months doing all the little things I wish I had found time to do myself. I’m a fairly big guy and it’s surprising how well I fit in a Midget. Getting in and out of it is somewhat of a comedy routine, but once you’re in, there’s plenty of legroom. That car at 50 miles an hour out in the country on a winding road made you feel like you were a racecar driver. I can’t imagine any more fun for the money than a wire wheel chrome bumper Midget. I bought that for about what you’d spend to get a riding lawnmower from Home Depot.
She is the best companion for anything you pitch to her.

Trip down memory lane here. All these cars are long gone and so is the money I got when I sold them. I have a great video from 10 minutes after this photo was taken when my dad acts surprised when the car started quickly.
