1929 Bentley Speed Six - Brakes, King Pins, and Bearings Installed!!!

My Speed Six is getting close.. See pics I just received from my mechanic, Greg Porter. Some slight fitmit issues with a reproduction part ... not a big issue.. a bit of filing down should allow dust covers to fit.

What is it with the new parts that causes the fitmit? Do the wheels stick out further now? Or are the brake drums not clearing? I've run in to problems with reproduction brake shoes.

I've had a LOT of issues with reproduction brake parts in the last few years. But I guess you could say that about a lot of reproduction parts.

So @DuesyGuy when do we get the test drive video.

Those look like huge brakes.

Kingpins were replaced and shoes relined. It might simply be linings need trimming on edges. I hope.

Nothing is easy.

It is cool that the brake shoes are drilled to save on unsprung weight. Was W.O. talking to Ettore and Jean?

Dan, two different approaches!!! Bugatti was for the most part small and nimble while the Speed Six is close to a freight train.

I think you will find that the brakes will be greatly improved, although they might take a few mile to wear in to where they really make a difference. The work looks good.
