My wife once saw a car wearing Gulf livery and said “That looks silly”. Despite this, we’re still together. Proof that I’m a very forgiving person.

😂. As a kid my two cars were the Miura and the 917. Road and Track provided a lot of inspiration. You wouldn't think those colors would work, but they do.

I was noticing as I was leaving Lime Rock a couple weeks ago that one of the houses next to the track has their mailbox done up in Gulf colors. So maybe car people are just as bad as tractor guys with their John Deere or Farmall mailboxes.

I can't find it now but there was a video on YouTube of various crew chiefs from different racing disciplines sitting down and telling cheating stories.
One was from a team running 917's in CanAm (I think). He said he got a call from a shop restoring one of their 917's and they were having trouble getting the replacement bodywork to fit.
He was laughing and saying there was no way a proper 917 body would fit the car they built. They pretty much rearranged everything to build this cheater car.
