Picking away slowly.

I dismantled both sprockets, the one that was vulcanized together came apart easy with some heat and the individual rubbers are all in good shape.

I decided to put the diff that came in the axle back together and use that. Both looked good. The serrated lock washers for the differential bolts are falling apart so I left them out and used a dab of Loctite instead. Bolts were torqued to 12 foot pounds.

The operations manual only says "oil" for the diff, no other explanation. I'm just going to grease it, for all the moving the spider gears will do, grease will be fine. I imagine the fitting was for an oil gun and since I don't have any British Standard threaded grease fittings, I machined one of the oil gun fittings down and made it an adapter for a 1/4-28 grease zerk.
