Product cycles are very expensive and the Porsche march in to the EV with no gas backup plan is gonna hurt. If I want to buy an EV I'm getting a Tesla. Maybe a Lucid.
I've never understood Ferrari but they seem immune to all the market pressures that hit everybody else.
I don't think Porsche allocations are a problem like Ferrari. I did have to wait 2-3 months for an allocation on a new 718 Spyder. The annoying thing is when they called randomly in the middle of my day they frankly told me I'd be paying over sticker just for the privilege of doing so. I politely declined. Now a few years later who's the idiot? I could have bought the car at premium, driven it, put 8-10K miles on it and sold it for more than that inflated price. It has become a little like the prior BMW Z8 who's value has never dropped below original MSRP all these years later. Just when I think I've gotten smarter....
I think Ferrari does it on purpose and it works for them. But it doesn't work for anybody else.
Dan I recently heard most Porsche sticks from the past two decades are expected to appreciate quickly. Not for that reason but I think the one late model anything that appeals to me is the Cayman.

Steve, I briefly had two 991s but realize I really like a GT platform better. We currently have a 981 but my wife won't let me buy another 911 as she knows what will happen....I tried to like the manual but the 7 speed was a real pain. The 6 speed seems to work but stupid as it sounds I would often select the wrong gear on the 7 speed. Yes, I know I should have treated it like a 6 and just ignore the final overdrive. I'm stubborn. Probably the 991s will appreciate longer term as they have just enough technology and Porsche has even released an updated PCM retrofit that allows wireless Carplay, etc. They are extremely reliable as well... Labor Day was my holiday to work so I couldn't get up to Lyme Rock but saw Travis' photos and realize I probably should make a point to go next year.
Yeah I am not sure he or I captured the sea of BMW, Porsche, British sportscars, etc. In marque parking. We missed ladt couple years and it seems to grow exponentially. A great mix really, planning to spend more time next year as races are fun as well as the show.
These past two years have had great turnouts on show day. It seems as though the Concours has grown as well because it always used to fit along the length of the main straight but now it extends all the way around Big Bend.
Nice to hear. I always judged the Hershey car corral by how far down the road it went. 15 years ago it went all the way around and back around to the Giant center parking. Now it goes 1/2 way around.

One of the clients of a shop I used to work for wanted a new Ferrari.
The dealer wouldn't sell him one unless he had another Ferrari in his stable, one of their silly rules.
They didn't seem to care that he had a 275GTB and a 250GTL. It had to be a newer model.
Anyone with enough money can just write a cheque for a newer model. How many 250GTL's were there? I think the number is in the hundreds.
The article posted above says that in some cases you need to buy 2 lesser cars before they will sell you the one you really want. Quite the racket!
