Model T Rocky Mountain Brakes.

Sometimes the new parts don't fit on the 110 year-old car. Nothing to do but put some Motorhead on the stereo, turn on the machinery and get to work.
Had to slot the mounting bracket a little bit.
Rocky Mountain brakes are installed.
The small set of shoes are the parking brake which is operated by the hand lever.
The larger, contracting band works on the larger brake drum and is operated by the foot brake pedal.

Shawn, would you say that new parts don't fit at least 75% of the time. That is what I have observered.

I'm not sure if it's as high as 75%.
I've installed 3 sets of these brakes now and this is the first bracket with an issue. I only needed to move the hole about 0.100 on each side.
Some parts like bushings or anything with a close fit are being made oversize to compensate for whatever wear may have happened over the years and will need machining for proper fit.

The shop was working on this a micro car. The battery box was rotted to crap. The fabricated a new one from steel, dropped it in. Bill was 350 bucks. The owner showed and said he wasn't paying 350 bucks for a new box that he can be a reproduction of for 150 bucks. So the galvanized steel reproduction shows up and requires all kinds of work to get it to fit. By the time they were done screwing with it the guy had more than the 350 bucks invested and had a galvanized box that looked like crap.

Yup. The motorcycle tanks coming from India are like that.
You'll spend as much making the new one fit as you would, fixing the old one.
