When did Maserati start building tanks? I have this Quattroporte in the shop and my god, it’s huge. We had to remove the wheels to send them out for reconditioning and my mid-rise scissor lift had all it could do to lift the tires off the ground. I took an aerial shot to give a better idea of the scale of this behemoth. This is one Italian that needs to cut some of the pasta from its diet.

It does sound fantastic. Though not quite as good inside the car as it does outside.
I've been in a few modern Maseratis and they're all large on the outside but cramped on the inside, especially the rear. I test drove the Ghibli a few years back (I know it is smaller) and the Grecale. They just have a poor use of space when you look at the plastic surrounds to the B-pillars or seat track ends or footwells or trunk enclosures, etc. Actually a woman with a Ghibli parks next to me at times currently. There's also lot of room at the front end behind the grille and facia, probably making parking a challenge. I didn't think there was a huge weight penalty. They always sound great at start-up though...
I will say, the seats and general ergonomics in this car are horrible. Really not what you want in a grand touring car.
I will say that in a sea of crap that all looks identical something will catch my eye and it will be a Maserati or a Jag. Both cars that I can't afford to service.
The Maseratis are certainly nice looking but if I were looking for a big touring sedan, the Germans do it better. There is a night and day difference between this car and an S-class Mercedes. I’d never spend my own money on either, but still.
In my salad days I bought my wife a new R500 Mercedes. Brand new. Was in the shop more in 2 years than my last 3 F150 trucks combined.

Speaking of Jag, they still have the styling. Did they pivot back? I thought after their advertising rebrand they were going to go out of business.
I haven’t even seen any of the newer Jags in person, seems like there’s very few of them around. I suspect that they’re depending on the Land Rover brand to keep them afloat.

Honestly, it was so bad I thought they would just give up.
My sister-in-law had this Jag SUV for the last 5-6 years. She finally sold it not knowing if they'd remain in business. I've driven it. It's OK. Not too inspiring and not as exciting handling as a BMW, Maserati, Porsche or Alfa SUV. I hate the rotary knob for transmission selector. The controls and trim were just so-so. Not the luxury feel of the prior 30 years unfortunately.
Speaking of Birdcage Maseratis, I just learned that you can actually buy a die cast model of a birdcage space frame. For the car nerd that has everything.
A Mercedes 300SL is basically a birdcage also. Great for racing but not so much for restoring.
I can imagine how difficult they’d be to restore if they’d ever sustained damage. Straightening that back out would be a nightmare. Probably would just need to set them up on a jig and replace whole sections from scratch.
Wonder how strong the algorithm is? My Facebook feed has innuendo about 60% of the Maserati deanships in the US had zero sales last month. Don't believe everything you see on the internet but the doom machine becomes self fulfilling.
Look at the size difference between the Quattroporte and an M550i. And if I had my pick, I’d take the BMW anyhow.
Wow. Is it really that much bigger is it the angle of the photo?
The Maserati is a bit further forward but if you look at the width of the windshield is the telling thing. It’s honestly about as wide as a full-size truck.
It looks like it is that much smaller. 8” less wheelbase, a foot shorter overall and a few inches narrower.
