1927 Photo of Chandler Touring - What Model and Year
I found this photo taken in 1927 near Redlands, CA. The rear window gives it away.

Is that a dead body on the running board?

Funny boy. I'm guessing they are camping.

On the running board is the last guy that said “Yeah, it’s nice, but don’t you wish you bought a Packard?”

I just noticed the comment about the rear window. I was looking at the door handles. So 1920 is the year then.

I think what you have here is a Chandler Service Series 27 7 passenger touring car from 1919-1921. Chandler kept the same body style for three years during this period where the economy was in a deep recession.

Thanks. Who was their coachbuilder at this time?

Is that a spotlight attached to the top? Seems like a strange way to mount it.

Turns out there are a lot of photos of this car from various camping trips.

Bingo! Somebody smart said camping on the first photo. There are lots of photos sets of people out on long camping trips. I guess it was a big deal and getting photos was important.
