I'm not a big car show guy. Actually I like to go to car shows but not bring a car. That usually ruins it. However, between my dad and myself (more him) we have a lot of trophies. I'm not sure I care much about them. I'll keep the Pebble 3rd in class trophy because it weighs 20 lbs and looks kind of cool on shelf. Not sure what to do with the others.
I'll also keep my dad's 3rd in class from 1994. Interesting how the trophy has evolved over the years. It is heavy also but 1/2 the size of the 2026 trophy.
But as for all the other ones? Going back to the 1950s..
You should keep your dad's trophies. Those are cool.
I agree with this. Don't have many of my own but if I had any from my dad I would keep them 100%
When I was racing I spent a lot of money, trying to win a $40 trophy.
The trophies you have are on a whole different level. I would keep all of them, they're something to be proud of.
Shawn, I have a bunch of 40 dollar ones too. There are a lot of them. A lot. My dad has some pretty good ones which would be a shame to toss. I guess I have a bad attitude.

Bob, I think I worded this thread wrong. Getting rid of the cool ones would be a crime. I should take some pictures of the 200 plastic ones that are lying around.
I say leave the nice ones out on a shelf and stash the cheapies away in a box where they’ll get forgotten until they someday end up being your kids’ problem to find a home for. Keeps your hands clean.
I think plastic ones that have no sentimental value to you (and you no longer have the car), let them go. Nice ones that you do have sentimental value (and you no longer have the car) keep. Any trophies related to cars you still have, I’d suggest keeping. They tell an interesting part of its story.
What to do with all of them…….. the bottom has fallen out of big old antique buffet/China cabinets. People have to almost give them away to get rid of them. Stuff like your trophies looks nice in them. Simple LED light solutions can be put in them and they live again as a nice display. My wife has her grandmother’s old curved glass large display cabinet. It is special because she loved her grandmother and is pretty, but she doesn’t want to put it in our home, and she can’t let it go…… it has stayed and holds radiator hood ornaments I’ve picked up over the years. Grab a couple of those and display the trophies you keep. they are still interesting. And you can do this in the new 6K square foot shop you should build.

John you nailed in on cabinets. I did sadly give away my mom's solid cherry dining room set we had forever. 25 years ago I probably could've sold it for a few grand but tastes change - including ours. Honestly I like the look and usability of our shaker-ish set. Def fits the house better. Plus we aren't entertaining the Governor anytime soon...
I think the CCCA and ACD club ones probably need to be on a shelf. There are some good ones like a best in show from 1963. The crap ones might need to go in the trash. That will help unclutter my mind and focus on the ones that are actually cool.

I like trophies. Especially the ones that I earned racing. Not because I want to have a shiny thing to show off and to polish. But because they are a great reminder years down the road of the event. I still have my drag racing trophies from the late '70s and I feel very nostalgic when I see them there on the shelf.
Not exactly drag racing, but I have my soapbox derby championship trophy from 1977 and I still have the car too so one of these days if I get a man cave I'll put them together.
Btw, all those buttons come from other drivers . When you won your state you got sent to Akron Ohio for the champonship race and stayed at Camp Y-Noah with the other drivers. Trading buttons was a tradition.
AJ could the plastic ones possibly be repurposed for scouts, kid's sports events or similar? Could be a call or two rehomes them vs. Trashing them. I have seen some local shpws where they have a team of kid judges. Or, leave them in a corner at Tom's when he isn't looking..
Tom's is a good suggestion. Would be happy to donate them. There are car ones, but also lots of sports stuff, I have dance trophies my parents won in the 60s. I guess dancing was a big thing.
