Dreary day in New England and I needed to get out of the house. I need to run this car every 90 days or so and it was about time. It always starts no problem. A well sorted RR is a thing of beauty. One that has not bee properly maintained is your worst nightmare.

A.J., how does this drive in comparison with 1950s American cars? Do you know how much it was brand new? Was your mom the original owner?
hey Bill, I wrote up a comparison somewhere between this car and a 53 Caribbean when I drove them both on the same day. I'll try to find it. The biggest thing with a RR is how quiet and smooth the ride is. RR was using the GM jet away 4 speed automatic and it is a god transmission. The Caribbean has a 2 speed slush box so that is one significant difference I remember.
Brand new my mom's car was 29k. It was ordered new by William McDonald the "fight promoter" based out of Miami that my dad always referred to as a mobster. His driver was a former price fighter from Worcester Massachusetts and one day he left the top down in the afternoon in Miami and you can guess what happened. Time for a new car. He ordered new RR. Always black with the PI00 headlights. Car was given to Inskip to sell and after a year of sitting on the roof parking lot my dad was the only one to go look at it. He bought the car by trading his 2 year old Caddy convertible and 5k bucks. At that point the car was barely 5 years old. I have all the Inskip paperwork which is pretty cool.

Now here is a car after my own heart! Thank you for posting the video! LHD and RHD are identical just swapped sides of the car it looks like. Everything is reversed.
Here is an engine walkthrough I did yesterday. This is the late engine which is almost 5L with twin carbs. No idea of the HP but with the jet away GM automatic it goes pretty well.
