A Few Early Cars At A Local Show
We tend not to get many early cars at our locals shows. There was a decent showing today though.

MKIV conv ertible is cool. I assume it was a stick? When they went from the IV to the V they started using the XK engine which was a huge upgrade.

A.J., are you sure about the XK engine. There was a saloon at a cruise night last fall with the hood open and I swear it was the overhead valve engine not the XK engine.

I'd be all over the Mercer if I had room right now. Do you know if the paint is original or an older repaint?

There can’t be many of those later Mercers, that’s for sure. To be honest, I didn’t really scrutinize it closely enough to know for sure if it was original paint or not. The owner wasn’t around. I was just surprised that I was actually seeing it.

I wasn’t thinking, should have gotten more photos. I’m not sure which model this is. I found photos of another similar car that they called a Sporting but I think that was a four passenger, this one looks like a five passenger to me.

Holy crap that is a great barn. This is a very cool car. This car was in the Mark Smith auction but I can't find any pictures that I took. Not a lot of cars built in 22. It is cool, 300 CU 4 banger must have big pistons.

That car must be pretty quick with 72 hp. Quicker than you probably want to go with only rear brakes.

Like most guys that appreciate early cars the Mercer Raceabout is the gold standard. I like these later ones too. Would love to get a driving report from someone that owns one.
