The usual 80 mile tour was cut down to 22 miles because of fires in Big Sur. You get to the truck lot around 6:00 AM and stage your car in a long line. Cars are staged out on Portola road and in columns inside the truck lot. First cars leave around 9:30. Of course it had to start raining. Cars all got wet but also a bit muddy. Saturday will be clean up day before the show.

I'm curious, what is the reticence of some for not putting the top up? Or would it not matter much without side curtains?
Different reasons I think. Some cars you can't see out of. Others the owner's think the car looks bad. It was raining hard enough that if it was me I would have put it up.
I think some of the guys were hoping it would stop, which it did eventually.
When the owners of the '56 XK140 put their top up, the frustrated husband was having to relearn and show his wet wife how the top operated. It was full of dead bugs and dirt. I'm guessing they decided long ago that the car looked beter with the top down.
My mom had the identical car that she used all summer long. One day 40 years ago they were coming back from a trip to Maine (maybe a jag show?). and it started pouring. They got under a bridge and spent 30 minutes fighting with the top. They did get it up eventually.
That time and when we sold it last year are the only 2 tiimes the top was up on that car in 50 years.
