This young man made my day yesterday at the Belltown car show. He was hanging out with his Orient buckboard all day, and let me tell you, he knew his stuff. He knew all about it. He knew how to start it. He would occasionally walk around to the other cars parked near him and was checking them out with genuine interest. It was great. And they say the hobby is dying. Psshh!
These are very simple brass era cars. Great car for a younger guy to learn on.
What was that simple almost Go Kart like car made in the 1920s? It reminds me of that.

This is an encouraging post. Exposing people to a simpler platform when young seems like a good way to get them interested. Some will no doubt look for bigger more complex challenges if they enjoy it and get “”the disease”.
I’ve often thought it would be fun to get some seventh and eighth grade boys and girls on a Saturday and just look at a hit and miss engine and get them to understand what’s going on. Anything to plant some seeds …….
I know if I had one of those things when I was a kid, my parents never would have gotten me back in the house until I ran out of fuel or crashed into a tree.
