I knew Miles was a car guy......and he had great taste in musicians to work with as well. "KIND OF BLUE", with Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderly, and John Coltrane. A benchmark in the world of recorded jazz.

You have wandered in to one of my sweet spots. This was my favorite car as a kid. Not the SV that we have here but the 67-69 without the big wheels in back. They were something like 20k new and in the mid 70s you could get one for something less than that but not 5k. By the 80s they were climbing fast. In 2000 you could get a beater one for 200k and a nice one for 400k. I looked at a couple but my dad thought investing in Packard convertible sedans was a better idea.
For every car that enthusiasts pump up as a “good investment “. There are 100 dogs ($).
I’ve been preaching the assembly of a mutual fund version of buying classic cars for their investment potential. A private equity accumulation of things that you could make an argument will go up..
I don’t actually think the idea is a good one, but I want to be in charge of it and spend other peoples money and get to pick the cars.
I seem to remember someone doing this with guitars a number of years ago. Not sure how it turned out.
This idea has floated around and been tried I believe. There are a lot of problems with it. The biggest being the cars are not liquid and require care and feeding to just sit there in the fund. I don't think it will work.
It is a terrible idea….. like going into business with a friend, buying a 100 year-old car that doesn’t run, having four cars that only have two seats each as you drive to the hospital for your wife to deliver your first child, heading off your freshman year to an all male liberal arts College……… tell me when to stop with bad ideas that I have firsthand experience at.
