Some speedsters have an austere minimalistic look that seems lacking, others are all blinged up to the point of being ridiculous.
Tom, your Chalmers has a nice appropriate clean look. Everything you’d want/need and no more.

This car presents beautifully in person John. Somebody spent a fortune building it. Its concours quality paint also.

John, thank you! I have loved the look of this car ever since I first saw it at Pebble. I kept staring at the proportions and how they managed to get the balance just right. An enormous amount of money was invested in the build, including 2.75:1 rear axle gears and a 4-speed transmission with a slightly overdriven fourth gear, making it a wonderful high-speed touring car. I'm happy to hear you share my thoughts!

Tom, interesting that you saw it at Pebble. Did it get loaded into a trailer from there and head back east to you, or did it take a while before it came into your hands? Share the story if you don’t mind.
The proportion of the hood length to the overall wheelbase, positioning of the seats relative to the rear axle…..those visual design decisions are what I find so attractive about your Chalmers. It is the same reason a 745 Roadster, XK, XKE, MGTC all work for me with a great looking side profile.

I first saw the car when it was offered privately through Worldwide auctioneers when they were there. It was sitting outside by the tent and I just couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. It had a very hefty price tag and I could understand why.
Fast forward a few years later and it found its way to me via an auction.
It is perfectly proportioned like a Mercer raceabout with a little longer hood.
