Getting gas on Sunday this AMX was next pump over. I waited for the owner to come out and was surprised to see a lady. Talked her about the car and she was driving back to NY City after a trip up north. 500 miles round trip. She bought the car in 1971 as a 2 year old used car. It is a 390 automatic. Heading down 495 in Massachusetts to get on 95 to Ney City.

Me too. Got a ride once in a 70 401 car. The short wheelbase made for interesting handling.

You don’t mention her age, but if she bought it in 1971 she’s at least in her 70s….. to have kept all those years is remarkable.

I did not want to give her age and be impolite but I don't think she was 16 when she bought the car.
The one I have always wanted is an SS car. I think they made 52 for homologation.
Loved these as a kid and if one fell in my lap it would be landing in a good home. For me the big bad ones from 70 with the 401 four speed is the top of the mountain.
Buddy had a Javelin in HS. 290 auto maybe? Kinda cool but broke a lot. It was tired.
