Going antiquing in an antique

My wife and I did a 70 mile trip to Great Barrington, MA for lunch and to stop in to our favorite art/ antique gallery. It was a good warm weather test run to make sure the car is running well for a 100 mile trip to a show next weekend. It did just fine and I had to get a couple photos of it with a few of the statues that they have there. The only thing transportation related that I saw was this taxi from the island of Java which I really want but it’s not for sale. My wife tells me that we need this dragon statue to go along with the koi pond that she wants me to build. She sure is good at coming up with ideas that create more work for me.

Great Barrington is one of those places that looks like it is from a movie set. There are a number of towns in western mass like that. What was the name of the antique store?

Yeah, just don’t try to find a parking spot downtown on the weekend. You won’t. The gallery is called Asia Barong, it’s the largest Asian art gallery in the country. Very easy to lose an hour or two in the place.

When the judges walk up you hand them a book on the car which they will look at for 60 seconds while you have 90 seconds to talk. I'll post mine when its done. Some of the bigger fish spend thousands of dollars have presentation books done for the cars. Hopefully they stick with the car when it goes down the road because typically they are very good.

Wow, I didn’t realize you had so little time to make your case to the judges. Sounds like most of it depends on the car speaking for itself.

The judges have already met and gone over every car before show day and they don't walk up cold. I think the 90 seconds is the reward you get for blowing a pile of money.

Thanks. The colors have definitely grown on me. I had some second thoughts when I first brought it home, but as you can see, it was a bit fugly in that state.

Using the beltline color on the wheels was smart. It looks great.

It actually happened by accident but that color is very close to the factory bourbon brown that would have originally been on the wheels. The belt molding would have been a very dark chocolate brown originally but I think it looks good matching. And even if it didn’t, I’m not painting it anyhow.

It is amazing to me what correct colors do for a car. I wonder how many guys can tell? Probably not many.

Travis assume you mean Belltown next weekend? Spent the weekend prepping George who hadn't had a proper end to end cleaning since he arrived in February.

Well it was a reference to Washington Blue but, I like the George Jefferson reference. What a sitcom lineup in 74 - 75...
