Derham Limo Body from a RR Silver Ghost

There was a time in the collector car world where very cool closed bodies would be removed from their original chassis to be replaced by replica open car bodies. What we have here advertised on Hemmings for $19,950 is an original Derham body that came off a Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. In remarkably complete condition it needs to be put back on a chassis. Located in Massachusetts.

Interior looks to be complete and original with many of the instruments.

Derham, of Rosemont Pennsylvania lasted until 1971. Perhaps the last of the great prewar coachbuilders. They really never made a bad looking body. @StillOutThere has a 1950s Imperial Limo with Derham updates.

My '55 Imperial Derham is a Model C69 Formal Sedan, not the C70 long wheelbase limousine. Recall well earlier days of the hobby when enclosed "winter" bodies like this got left behind as the car was sold with the "summer" open touring body to a collector. What a great timepiece this is! Thinking the Derham badging changed to script post WWII ?

That is super cool and if I had unlimited funds and storage, I would want it simply as memorabilia and Art. It does remind me of this though…..

When I have some time I will try to figure out what happened to the chassis.

Is that body for a left hand drive or right hand drive car and does it matter?

It looks like LHD which would make it 1925 or so when Silver Ghost production in Springfield shifted to LHD from RHD.
