Inspecting the transmission and rear axle on the 1914 Pathfinder.
Nothing broken, no teeth lying in the bottom so that's good!
Found some questionable hardware cranked into the front side of the housing.
The steel seems very soft and someone has stripped most of the threads that hold the axle to the torque tube so I'm going to be fixing those and replacing hardware.

I can't think of another car like that? It is a cool feature (that nobody can see but the mechanics).
Shawn, will the helicoils hold with the soft metal?
They will be stronger than the original thread, I expect they will hold just fine.
I have to get the thing apart and see how much thickness I have to work with. I may need to take a different approach if the diff housing is thin.
