Okay, I need to get Jim Farley on the phone. Somebody at Ford has some ‘splaining to do. Why is it that if I want to make THEIR product last longer, I have to pay $220 list price for a pair of “accessory” splash shields? That’s even worse than the brands that charge extra for floor mats.

They would rather you didn't have them, they dont want the truck lasting longer. But if you are going to buy some they figure you might as well buy them from Ford.

...that's their lightweight sports model.😁

What is next? Fenders are optional?
And the paying for floor mat craze is isnane.

I guess they figure that since they went to aluminum they don’t need to bother with splash shields. It’s true that I’ve seen older trucks without the shields that aren’t corroding , but still. Of course, it might not be so much of a necessity if they programmed the robots to actually spray a full coat of paint in there. Aside from the looks, my main reason for getting them is to dampen the sound of stones that get flung by the tires. It’s quite loud on the bare aluminum.

Ridiculous. Clearly, this was the attempt at some MBA-degreed executive trying to eke out cost savings. The short-sightedness is outstanding. Then the same executive will complain that brand loyalty and overall consumer sentiment are declining. End rant.
Been doing it for years , Make the front fender liners just short enough so that the moisture from the wheel well will splash onto the exhaust manifolds causing increasingly severe heat cycling so the manifold bolts break. Yippee, more service work!
