The difference wheel color makes to the look of a car.   All you guys that know me know I'm a blackwall guy.  My dad put whitewalls on the family daily driver Eldorado's and I felt I was in a Starsky and Hutch episode.

Here is a 1928 Lincoln L Locke bodied touring car that is for sale on Facebook.

My rule is the less number of colors the better the car looks.   Not everybody agrees which is ok.   The photo with the whitewalls and red wheels is the actual car which is for sale.

Here is a version with black wheels and black tires. The way I like it.

Yes, definite improvement. Just needs plated snap rings to break up the tires and wheels.

I'm generally against bling of any sort but I'm leaning 60/40 on this version with the chrome snap rings over the full painted black.

Honestly, not half bad with the yellow wheels. That’s a tough call. One thing’s for sure, the red needs to go.

I'm ok with all three versions without the red wheels. Could be talked in to any of them really. Maybe the chrome snapring version because that is basically my Stearns.

Btw, this is what we started with. Everybody loved those red wheels in the 70s and 80s.

These last two don't look bad. Even the whitewalls don't look bad with fender colored wheels.

Yeah, I had to correct the same nasty red wheel condition. Looked dumb even with black walls.

Were red wheels really a thing when the cars were new? Or are they a product of more recent times?

Red wheels were correct on certain color combinations of Fords, Model A in particular, not sure about others.

There seemed to be a trend in the 70s / 80s to paint your car like a circus wagon.
J-491X was orange and cream with a tan interior before I took it apart.

I really like the colors on that Packard. I’m not even sure it needs a change in wheel color. I’d be happy with just blackballs but I have to admit that the whitewalls work on that car for some reason.

Me too Travis, I like the two tone green. Not easy to pull off. I especially like my updated version with the black tires.
