This is why unrestored cars are the best. No pavement? No problem.

Nice! Is that your driveway Travis?

No, though one of my driveways isn’t a whole lot more refined than that. This was in the local state forest.

What’s the crawl ratio on a ‘31 Hupmobile, anyway? You don’t need a Jeep when you have 32” tires, 4.55 gears with a granny low 1st gear, and a hand throttle from the factory.

Driving that 38 Buick last week on tour I missed the hand throttle a couple of times. Great feature that was mostly gone by 1936.

Definitely a handy feature on bumpy roads. Farmer cruise control.

I don’t think the cog railway up Mt. Washington clunks, rattles, and whines as much as this car on a dirt road.

That is awesome. It does sound like the Cog railway too. Where does that road go?

That particular road doesn’t really go anywhere. It goes in half a mile and dead ends at a view overlooking the village of Riverton ( where Hitchcock chairs were made).

There is another gravel road that’s a few miles through the state forest that has an old stone museum along the way. I’d say it’s about the same age as the car.

Great photos & video!
What a beautiful drive! Thanks for posting the photos and video.
