Large original Boyce Moto-Meter radiator temperature gauge for a Chandler motor vehicle. Harrison Boyce patented this simple gauge in 1913 and teamed with George Townsend and his Moto Meter company in New York. Millions were produced by the late 1920s when in-car temperature gauges took over. Chandler built cars from 1913 to 1929 in Cleveland, OH and was a highly regarded independent make. This Motometer is the Universal Deluxe Model with nickel plating and fancy floral wreath design trim bezels with matching screws. The body is 3" wide by 3 3/8" high by 7/8" thick. Total height with the in-cap sensor is 5 1/8". The body and bezels are nickel plated with beveled glass lenses front and rear and the Chandler / Motometer logo plate is visible at the front. It has the Chandler bowtie logo in the center and is marked "THE MOTO-METER CO. INC. LONG ISLAND CITY, NY U.S.A." at the bottom. This Motometer is cosmetically very good with most original parts and very clean and clear interior plates. The body has no cracks, corrosion, pitting or other issues but the plating shows heavy wear. The glass lenses are excellent with no chips or scratches. The bezel plates are very nice with five out of eight correct filagreed screws, slight plating wear and faded infill paint. The glass thermometer has no red liquid showing,
