Here we go, one step forward and two steps back on the 1911 T
I cleaned and chased the threads in all the head bolt holes, then checked to be sure the bolts threaded in fine. All good.
New bolts arrived, tried to thread the new bolts into the block and four are having issues. Looks like I have to repair some threads. The holes have all been heli-coiled once and it appears that rust has gotten behind the heli-coil and caused it to shrink the diameter of the insert. New inserts are on order and I should be able to dig the old ones out with a pick.
Magneto coil installed. You can see the shims to set the coil height behind the coil frame.
Set the transmission on the crankshaft and check the clearance between the magnets and the field coils. Clearance should be between 0.025" and 0.040" I've got it set within those dimensions.Oil tube installed. The little aluminum scoop feeds oil picked up by the flywheel into the tube and down to the front of the engine to the timing gears and front main bearing.
Bolts are safety wired.
