Question about reproduction Duesenberg bodies.
I've worked on two cars with reproduction bodies. One was a replica LaGrande dual-cowl phaeton which had never been finished and I was told through a lot of second-hand information that it was built better than the original bodies. This body seemed very well made.
Does anyone know who made the reproduction LaGrande dual-cowl phaeton bodies?
Shawn, there has been a number of reproduction Duesenberg body builders over the years. My uncle Ted Billings made about 10 of the Derham Tourster bodies. There was not a run of reproduction dual cowls that I know about, however sometime around 2010 I was in the basement of the national auto and truck museum in Auburn Indiana and there was a reproduction Murphy roadster and a dual cowl body. I believe they belonged to Dean Kruse. Not sure who made them. Here are a picture of the body bucks for the tourster bodies.
The framing looks very similar but not the same.
This body belonged to Bill Craig at one point during it's life. There's another Dual Cowl around which I was told was made by the same person or company. That car is black with green coves, I've been told it was the one used for the Franklin Mint model.
