Panhard et Levassor came up in another thread and I was thinking that is a marque that is worthy of its own thread. An interesting brand with great styling and many had Knight engines.
I saw this incredible 1912 X19 Labourdette Skiff-Torpedo. Apparently the body was recreated to match the original model in the 1970s. The car is in the Louwman Museum in the Netherlands. https://louwmanmuseum.nl/en/car/panhard-et-levassor-x19-labourdette-skiff-torpedo/

1911 X14 by Vanvooren.

Beautiful Skiff body. Panhard had some crazy cars in the 1930s. I need to go find some pictures.

Here is an example. 1936 center drive Dynamic. Always wanted one of these. The 2 door is rarely if ever seen.

@alsancle I didn’t realize that the Dynamic was a monocoque design.

@Hupp31 And a sleeve valve engine.

@alsancle if I’m not mistaken, it was the very last car to use sleeve valves.

@Hupp31 Travis, I think you are right. A design perfect for the era when valve jobs were every 1k miles. By the 1930s it made no sense.

@alsancle That is really different.
@alsancle I needed to look up what a sleeve valve was. Had never heard of it.

@BLK-10001 Knight sleeve valve engines are cool. Only a matter of time before I can no longer resist the urge to own one.

@alsancle How about a Dynamic cabriolet? I wonder if any of these still exist.

A better look at the body construction.

@Hupp31 I was not aware they made a convertible. Wow.

@alsancle I can’t find much on it aside from a couple publicity photos and this ad. I know very little French so I can’t get much from the ad.

@Hupp31 Very cool. Check out the center steering.

@alsancle I imagine that the rear seat passengers would have to be quite friendly to fit four back there.

@Hupp31 Everybody was skinny in 1935.

70hp Panhard that won its class at the 1902 Paris to Vienna race. This thing is just awesome. I wonder how much oil the total-loss lubrication system went through in that run. Unusual to see a rear hinged hood like that.

A 1935 Panoramique. we talked about these in the Hupp topic because of the windshield treatment.

I love this 1936 Panoramique sedan. The roof line gives it that long and low look.

Interior shot of another 1936 Panoramique. Look at that dash! I need one of these things now.

@Hupp31 Where the F is the laughing vote.

@BuickGuy68 I think that might be a different one.

@BuickGuy68 Different. THe BAT car is in eastern Europe. They look very similar but I think the Hyman one is nicer.

6CS Cabriolet Victoria by Janssen

1935 Cabriolet by Gangloff

1932 8DS eight cylinder.

@Hupp31 This is the one I want!!!!!

@alsancle Me too. I’ll have to try to find an engine pic of the right cylinder.

@alsancle From Coachbuild.com
“The Panhard in the mystery section (p.4) is a Panhard 8 DS Type X67 coachbuilt by Letourneur & Marchand. This car was delivered to the emperor of Annam, Bao Dai, in january 1932.
Reference: 'Gotha de l'automobile française' (Claude Rouxel-Laurent Friry Ed. ETAI) p.246 for another picture”

1918 sedan by Bellvallette

I might settle for this 1935 coach by Fernandez and Darrin.

@Hupp31 Wonder if it surived?

@alsancle I hope so. I’d like to see another photo to see what the rear of the body looked like.

@Hupp31 F&D which was Darrin doing the designing are all good looking. Ole Dutch never penned a bad design.

@alsancle True. Much like this drophead coupe.

@Hupp31 Wow!!!!

Another F&D body on a 1931 8DS chassis. I can’t believe how low they managed to get the body on the frame. The running boards can’t be much more than 6” from the ground.

@Hupp31 Like I said, F& D did not make a bad body.

1934 Cabriolet Gran Sport by Fiol

@Hupp31 You see very little Fiol bodies. But the one I want is this PII RR that did not survive to my knowledge.

@alsancle awesome running boards!

@Hupp31 Travis, if this car existed it would have Pebble Beach BOS potential.

I think we have a winner! Not great photos but check out this 1929 coupe by Gallé. That is f-ing gorgeous.

@Hupp31 Oh yeah! Hard to ever go wrong with double rear spares, but on a 3 window!

Had they removed the top from this one, they may have been on to something. The roof makes it a bit bizarre.
@Hupp31 Crazy!

1937 Dynamic coupe at the 1936 salon in Paris.

Coupes are very rare. There was one for sale at auction a few years ago in France but you were not allowed to export it.
