Today we took the car to the show at Rhinebeck, NY. Great drive through farm country there and back. 140 miles round trip and not so much as a hiccup out of the engine. Despite all of the scenic photo ops, I didn’t think to stop and get any pics. The drive was too much fun to stop but I did get one shot of the car all cleaned up before we left.
There were a ton of cars in the show, but here are some of my top picks. This awesome 1934 Dodge was one of my favorites. I believe it won the same class that I was in, which it should have.
@Hupp31. Have always been a fan of the 34.
@tom1980 I particularly like the low roof line. Looks like it had a mild chop right from the factory. But there wasn’t an ugly car built in 1934 anyhow.
@Hupp31 You are correct. I just said the same thing in another topic about GM but 32-24 were great styling years across the board. The transition from open fendered cars to fully streamlined had begun.
I was in the same class with this Franklin last year at Lime Rock. Love this thing.

@tom1980 I believe it’s a 1929. I’m not familiar with Franklin model numbers but I know it has a fairly long wheelbase, especially for a roadster.
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a Wayne in person. Pretty cool. Disregard the people leaning on it while posing for photos. 🙄
Nearly as many model T’s today as there were model A’s, which is strange. I liked this one. No idea if it was correct or not other than the color.
This Pontiac racer was great.
This little Singer looked like it would be an absolute blast…if you could fit in it.
The work done on this Chevy flatbed was stupid good. Just plain stupid good.

@Hupp31 Looks like a pretty good sized ahow. How many cars showed up?
@alsancle It is one of the bigger shows around. I would guess maybe 500. Mostly postwar American but also quite a few British and Italian cars. More prewar cars than we typically see around here.

@Hupp31 Lots of sun this spring but not much warm weather in NE.
@alsancle It was perfect weather for driving a closed car but not as much for standing on an open field.
@alsancle The long trip gave me a chance to accurately check the car’s oil consumption. It used a full quart. Meh, I guess the smoke is only a problem for the guy behind me.

Great show. Swap has deteriorated badly unfortunately. We have all the zip ties, rags and model cars we need...
@SteveMackCT You were certainly not kidding about the swap meet. Maybe all the good stuff went on Saturday. There are some dreamers out there. A 1929 Durant sedan shell for $4k….with not a scrap of wood left in it.
@Hupp31 The only two viable futures for that Durant sadly, are the scrap heap or $400 - not $4,000 he was asking - to another dreamer or someone wanting yard art or revenge on a neighbor depending on how you look at it.
I did pick up a nice flaring tool for $2 on the way out... But the find of the day, despite the cold wind was the "cider shake" essentially cider and vanilla ice cream. Really good!!
@SteveMackCT Whoever buys that Durant will get revenge on their neighbor when a stiff breeze blows pieces of it into their yard. Even I have more mercy for my neighbors than that and I literally have dinosaur statues in my front yard.😂
@Hupp31 Travis did you happen to chat with the guy next to you with the 32 Ford roadster? So unusual to see one restored stock that isn't a Model B. One was for sale in NJ that looked like it could be the same car.
Guy was busy and we were rolling shortly after we saw you so I never got back to ask about it.
@SteveMackCT I didn’t get a chance to talk to him myself but I overheard him talking to some other people and I believe that was one of Rob Dyson’s cars that one of his employees brought to the show. So I don’t know how long that had been in his collection. He had a Model A coupe in the concours at lime Rock last year too.

@Royale835Sedan Thanks. I can’t take credit for much on the colors, they’re an approximation of the original combination when it was given a quick respray sometime long ago. The wheels were me though. They would have been brown originally and I had to get rid of the circus wagon red.
@Hupp31 Pretty soon all these replies wil be in the order they aremade which will make all of this more easy to read I hope. You did the right thing with the black wheels.
