Heart transplant almost complete. 1936 Packard 12

Very nice. I hope you post a first start video for us. I think there are 2 or 3 of these cars known? Here it is back in 1962.

@alsancle Same car?
@BillSmith I beleive it is. My car came out of Minnesota

@BillSmith 100% the same car.

@alsancle Here is the car on tour in Ohio last year, along with the other one known. By some coincidence, both survivors were on the same tour. I managed a few hundred miles in the car with the new engine.

Photos……

@Edinmass It is nice to see the owner had enough taste to dump the whitewalls.
Would it be impolite to ask how much a Packard 12 engine job costs these days?

@tom1980 One of those things where if you have to ask you can't afford it.

@tom1980 Pierce 12, Packard 12, V16 Caddy are all 50 to 100k engine jobs these days depending on what they need and who is doing the work. Model J Duesenberg is probably more.

@tom1980
How do you even find someone to do the machine work anymore?
I don't know any machine shop I would trust these days.
I know a Rolls-Royce guy but he won't take on work anymore after a shop screwed up a pre-war BMW engine he built and tried to blame him.

@ShawnG It is a big problem now Shawn.

@BillSmith A Model J without a blower is 125k with no extras, a Packard 12 with all the goodies, transmission, clutch, etc………….110K for a total correct rebuild with new everything. Including a timing chain cover. My numbers are from my recent experiences…….not the above car.

@Edinmass Wow! why so much???
