Do you have a guilty please collector car? For example, I liked the Bee Gees but I couldn't tell my friends. Here is mine. Went to school with a kid that drove a rusted out one. I wanted a HEMI car but had a strange attraction to the Karmen Ghia.

I have a list. But I don't want to offend anyone. I want a Gremlin, but it has to be this Gremlin.

@alsancle That is really really cool.

Keeping with the Karmen Ghia theme I have always liked these. Split window only.

@69GoatMan I like these early ones also!

Hey! I love the Karmen Ghia! Here is mine. 55 Nash Metropolitan Coupe. I want the hardtop.

@Rambler0155 This was on my list too. Almost bought one in my 20s. Both the cars I looked at were junk.

I've always liked small cars, an AH Sprite is probably my favourite car to drive in anger. You can use everything it has and not go to jail.
That said, my guilty pleasure car would be a Crosley Hotshot. At 6' tall and 230lbs, I'd probably look like a circus bear in it.

@ShawnG I like those too. Do you know the difference between a Hot Shot and a SuperSport?
Btw, you comment made think of this movie.

@alsancle
I don't. Could it be the engine?

@ShawnG Idenntical except the Super Sport has doors.

@ShawnG there is something about those little British roadsters. I am guilty of loving them too. The thrill of being out in the country on a winding road on a beautiful day and getting it all the way up to 50 miles an hour! Is exhilarating and lets you pretend you’re some kind of race car driver.

@EVFan3939 bingo. You win!
@Royale835Sedan yes. hard to beat the citicar.

My guilty pleasure cars are sport hatchbacks, particularly European. I don’t care if it makes me look like a boy-racer or a teenage girl. They’re a blast. The one I make do with and the bucket list car:

@Hupp31 My nephew has a Subuaru something or another that goes 150 mph and is all the rage. Every generation has their thing. In fact, the segment may be the biggest thing in car culture for the HS set these days.

@alsancle I think you are talking about the WRX which is a pockiet rocket.

@alsancle Yeah, they’re quick but I could never get into the WRXs. A little bit Fast and Furious for my liking. But it is impressive what they’re capable of. There’s a shop up the street from me that specializes in tuning Mitsubishi Evos and has built some of the fastest in the world.

Not embarrassed at all because this is cool, but it seems AMC products somehow get ignored or laughed at. I want a 360/4 speed Hornet.

@Royale835Sedan No way a Horent SC360 is on the guilty pleasure list! I think they only made something like 300 four speed cars.
I was gonna put the Pacer on here because my wife likes them and they are so uygly that they have almost come all the way around again.

@Royale835Sedan Be honest. You just want to try the James Bond flip with that Hornet, don’t you?

@alsancle my wife thought a Pacer was a Porsche 928. We did eventually have four children and have been married for 39 years.

@JohnBloom Whoa, whoa, whoa, Them’s fightin’ words! That might have been a deal breaker for me. I have an irrational love of the 928. The Pacer, not so much.
@Hupp31 That came up on my social feed yesterday.

@Ralph71 Bond films are a guilty pleasure all on their own.

@Hupp31 This will be more understandable when the sorting gets straightened out on the replies. But on the Bond subject:
1. Sean Connery
2. Roger Moore
3. Daniel Craig
4. I don't care.

@alsancle Amen, brother!

@JohnBloom

@alsancle I was just going to say that I have Rebecca De Mornay to blame for my 928 obsession.

@alsancle
For those who might be on the fence contemplating having children:
my dad gave me his pampered 1977 Chevette with 50,000 miles on it to take to college as a freshman. For some reason in the glove box, he included the title. His name was John Bloom and mine is John Bloom. Imagine his surprise when I came for fall break and I had traded in the car he saved for me for college at a shady used car lot and came home for fall break in this.
He told that story for the next 40 years

@JohnBloom That is fantastic! Love it. My old man would have lost his mind.

@Hupp31
I like the 928 they get very little love.
The 911 I drove felt like a tarted-up VW Beetle but that's probably because the pedals swing the wrong way.
I have an irrational desire for a Fiat X1/9 as well.

@ShawnG Back in my early 20’s when I had money burning a hole in my pocket, I had a short list of fun cars that I was looking at, all when nice examples could be had for around $10k :
Porsche 928
Porsche 944 Turbo
BMW E30 M3
Because I’m an idiot, I bought a new Cooper S instead. Still a fun car but I think about that list every time I see where E30 M3 values have gone.
The Fiat X1/9 might be another car that would make you look like a circus bear.

This just showed up in my facebook feed.
All these little cars. How about something big? I might actually drive this to cruise night.

@BLK-10001
Needs a chandelier hanging inside.
@BLK-10001 Superfly!

Well I look at LBCs &VWs as interesting/legit enough not to be a guilty pleasure.
I am not a big kit car guy but I think one can get a helluva ride in one of those knock off Cobras. And they are more numerous all the time.
I have casually kicked tires of NOM midyear Corvettes and a nice Cobra seems like a better deal these days. Especially in decent driver condition
Then, Alsancle might throw bricks at it though so I don't know. But it is a guilty pleasure I have thought about...
@SteveMackCT The problem with the Cobra replicas is that build quality is individual to that car. A good one might be a decent car and a hack build you have a nightmare.

@Ralph71 understood. I have a pal planning to attend "Cobra school" - one of the repro companies will teach prospective builders how to do it right over a weekend seminar. Most likely scrstch that itch as a helper if he ends up buying.
Honestly my first choice if I were to go that route would be a NOM midyear vette. Even a mild 60s/70s period car would be fine. Cragars, flares, etc. I appeciate NCRS cars but you know something asking to run now and again...

@SteveMackCT They get cheaper ever day Steve.
