The Chrysler Turbine Car was an experimental vehicle developed by Chrysler in the 1960s, powered by a gas turbine engine. It was part of a bold initiative to explore alternative powertrains, showcasing innovative technology and futuristic design. The car was powered by Chrysler’s fourth-generation A-831 gas turbine engine and produced approximately 130 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque. 55 cars were built in the early 1960s and 50 were loaned to the general public for a 2 year testing program. Poor fuel economy (11–13 mpg), slow acceleration, and high production costs caused the program to be terminated. A few of the cars survive. Here is a video of one survivor passing by at the Pebble Beach Concours tour in 2023.
