Just returned our 1934 MG PA to the road after a couple of decades sitting idle with a blown head gasket. The car was restored and enjoyed by my father-in-law before he passed in 2006. Now its our turn to play caretaker to this wonderful piece of MG MMM history.#MG

Excellent! Amazing how similar that looks to the post war TC.

@alsancle Agreed. Very similar. But the prewar stuff is way more desirable to me.

Similar on the outside, but inside they are a whole another animal. The Triple M cars like this one were blessed with a cross-flow OHC engine. These were very much inspired by the competition activities that MG participated in on the weekends. Race on Sunday and sell on Monday.
The TC are great cars in their own right but come with a pushrod larger engine and bigger wheels. It is often said that service men fell in loved with the British sports cars while overseas like these.

@Chandler-Six Thanks for the clarification. I know I've always liked the prewar MG, especially the bigger ones. Great photos!
Wonderful you have such a great family car.
MG made fantastic cars before WWII. Although primarily known for their post war sports cars the prewar stuff is even better.

@tom1980 that looks like an SA. A good friend of mine has a wonderful original example from 1938.
@Chandler-Six I believe the SA was the "big" chassis for the more formal coachwork? There was an auction in Texas some years ago where 4 or 5 of them were sold. Beautiful cars.

@tom1980 I believe you are talking about the Gene Ponder auction that RM put on in 2022 in Texas. At least a dozen MG cars and some very cool ones.

@tom1980 well compared to the TC yes the SA was a much larger car, but in the MG lineup it was smaler than the VA or WA series. These car were so well appointed they were very much like a sporting Jaguar sedan.

@Chandler-Six Thanks! I just learned somnethinmg. This is an SA. Looks a lot like a Jaguar.

@alsancle , I know that car very well. It is in very good hands today. Still mostly original as it left the factory. Even still has the pillows that were used by the rear passengers that were affixed the the C pillars.

BTW it has black walls on it now 😀

@Chandler-Six If you have a recent photo with the blackwalls would love to see it. Great looking car.

Very cool!!!
Wow what a great post this turned into!

@Ralph71 Ralph, I agree. I learned a few thing in this post that I didn't know. Always nice.
