At $7.98, one can buy this postcard showing a LEGENDARY car. The title says 1912 6-Cylinder Limousine, referring to the "48-Six" in the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Somehow - rancher E. Collicutt's name is misspelled on the postcard.

A Beautiful Peerless Dealership on 660 Beacon Street in Boston..........
(for sale by postcardprints seller for $1.99 on ebay)

@Peerless28 The building is still there.

@alsancle Great news! Probably a pretty desirable location in that town. There's a nice story in the AACA Peerless Forum by TG57Roadmaster, I believe, who was invited to show his ~56 Cadillac on one of the top floors of the 9-story Peerless Building in NYC. Built in 1909 and still there at 57th & Broadway.

@Peerless28 Jeff, everywhere in Boston is a desirable location. At least for now.

Here's a 1926 stock certificate:
https://ebay.us/m/g4EpLx

@TheFairbanks 1926 was their best year for sales, at over 10,000 cars. If anyone asks you "why aren't there more Peerless cars around?" remember this...I crunched the numbers once and found that annual production of Peerless cars averages 3,800. That's the same production as Rolls-Royce 10 years ago. Did I see any R-R cars when I took my wife to the West Edmonton Mall? When I go to the Southgate Mall in Missoula next week? Even when we stayed at the most expensive hotel in my life...the Doubletree in Lawrence, KS five months ago, there weren't any Rollers in the parking lot. Like Peerless cars, they don't make many and a lot of them get traded in or recycled.
P.S.: Long-time Peerless owner Alan Clendenen traded in his 1904 and 1912 Peerlesses for a 1914 Silver Ghost about 20 years ago. (I couldn't find a photo). Did he "trade up"?

This is kind of cool - key inside a dealership envelope:
https://ebay.us/m/PbdURT

@TheFairbanks Very cool!

I just bought one of these in a different auction. This one is in better shape than the one I got, and cheaper!
https://ebay.us/m/vGo6g6

@TheFairbanks Dave, I'm dropping the pictures in for when the ebay link disappears.

@alsancle Do it up as a t-shirt, full color, image blown up to 10" across, that would be great.
Another would be that B&W picture here on the Peerless Society site of Louis Chevrolet standing next to his new 1926 Peerless Six-80 with the caption: "Ask the man who owns one". JohnBloom is a Packard owner. Do you think that would be received poorly by the Packard Guys? If in poor taste -- it could say:" Louis here started Chevrolet in 1912. His new car in 1926? A Peerless Six-80."

These have been floating around for a while. While they are super cool, sometimes rare and unique don't equal valuable, which is why for the price these probably haven't moved:
https://ebay.us/m/7WOHwK

@TheFairbanks Crap. If I have to buy these I'm sending you the bill. I have an identical set for my Royale. I actually used them and went with the dark blue because my car was originally red and I couldn't do it.
Of course, now I can't find the pictues of them, sigh...

@TheFairbanks That's actually a fantastic find. I spent an hour copying the color mix data 15 years ago from a similar ad. My '28 needs some specific colors for Model Six-80s for that year:
---------Rolls-Royce Blue {a blueish-green}
---------London Smoke {a dirty grey-brown}
unfortunately not in this list of ten. there are vintage paint resources for some of the other colors out there, though.

Form someone who might be missing their eagle mascot. If this is an original, would be a great buy. If it's a reproduction, price might be a bit high. I'm on the fence on if I want it as a alternative to my eagle in situations where I don't want it to go missing.
https://ebay.us/m/ado4SC

@TheFairbanks

Now this is a great find....but easily pricing itself out as it's been available for a long time and nobody is biting on that price.
https://ebay.us/m/GmF6Sd

@TheFairbanks Yes. 725 dollars is a lot of money. I have a couple of mascots from cars I don't own as a collection. Fortuntely something I never got addicated to.
1920s PEERLESS EAGLE RADIATOR CAP MASCOT
VERY NICE ORIGINAL CONDITION
EXCELLENT DETAIL
NICKEL PLATING APPEARS ORIGINAL AND IS NICE
CAME FROM THE ESTATE OF AN ADVANCED MASCOT COLLECTOR.
SHIPPING AND INSURANCE IS $30.00 FOR ALL 48 CONTINENTAL U.S. STATES
WILL QUOTE SHIPPING AND INSURANCE TO ALL OTHER LOCATIONS
ANY QUESTIONS???? EMAIL ME

Dave, there were 2 different diameters of these, TTBOMK, sort of a junior/senior thing.
And there are three versions of the eagle radiator mascots that I know of:
1) The original, a masterpiece of design, very sharp detail on feathers...you could almost cut yourself on the them, they're so 3-D. Made out of nickel-plated zinc(potmetal). Incredibly fragile over time(like the potmetal interior door hardware a lot of cars had in the 20s)...1 or 2 show up on e-bay every year, most with damaged beaks. They can be restored/replated.
2) Don Sommer's company in Novi, MI (American Arrow Corporation) used to make perfect replicas of original radiator mascots. Lost wax process cast stainless steel. 200 varieties were produced. Their version is show quality...................................................... probably better than the original. $600 20 years ago.
3) The ones sold by a company in Irvine, CA(now Aliso Viejo), Procom Engineering, Inc. New reproductions(R.P.s), solid bronze or brass, will outlast the pyramids. Manufactured in China. I got one on e-bay for $49.99.* A workmanlike copy of the original 1927 Peerless eagle. The OD on mine is 2 1/8" with male thread, ID is 1 15/16".
The one above is a #3. $725 IS a lot of money. I saw one like it for sale in Europe somewhere for hundreds of euros last year. As you know if you're a R-R/Packard/Pierce-Arrow owner, replica hood ornaments are really common. A) if you park your car unattended they get nicked B) there's a lot of money in collecting the real ones C) long time Peerless owner Ele Chesney told me how much she loved collecting the French art glass versions("and by the way, they are radiator mascots, not hood ornaments"). When she decided to unload these Laliques at an auction, they fetched over 800K.
*6th Grade Math Story Problem: if I bought 1500 of these for $50 and sold all of them for $725, I would make a million dollars.

@Peerless28
Mine is a #1. It's cracking and falling apart like old pot metal does.

My wife appreciates fine art(SHE HAS AN ART DEGREE) and sent me a photo of an art glass radiator mascot today ($245 from artdeco1930.com), something risque' (I CAN'T SHOW HERE) made of Green Uranium Glass. The eagle below($210) in Blue Uranium Glass is more appropriate for a Peerless. They're made from original H. Hoffman 1930s molds. They're probably radioactive. Ultra cheap compared to Rene Lalique "bouchons de radiateur". I can get you one of those for $33,830! I dare say.... if you parked at a mall with one of these on the hood of your antique car, it would be gone RATHER quickly.

@Peerless28 If I had a car I would grab that. Head gaskets are getting more and more scarce all the time and the reproduction stuff is hit or miss.

For $30, available at historicimages03 on E-Bay, depicting Dr. & Mrs. William Donze of Berea, OH and their 1910 Peerless Mod. "27" Landaulet in 1963.

@Peerless28 The Historic Images seller is selling news wire photos which are very cool because usually there is a description on the back explaining the photo. Most seem to be from the 50 through 80s.

@alsancle This one was on the occasion of them winning a 1st at an AACA Meet at Dearborn Village. Jack Tallman(a retired Illinois Cadillac dealer) had this Landaulet for years, and told me it's the ultimate brass car. Of all places, it's at the very posh Key Museum, after selling at the Amelia Island auctions about 5 years ago. In case you're ever in Izmir, Turkey, pop in and see it.

@Peerless28 Jeff, what was the date?

@alsancle Michigan back in 1963.

1920 Peerless Model "56" 7-P Sedan. Postcard for $4.99. The car John said he was mildly interested in.

"Barney Oldfield Peerless Green Dragon Race Car St Louis Missouri MO - Reprint"...postcard for $2.99. Seller: PostcardPrints. This would have been the August 28th, 1904 St. Louis race, where the car knocked down 100' of fence, plowed into 12 people, killing 2, before hitting an oak tree. Barney was hit in the eyes by dust, dirt, rocks attempting to pass, resulting in the crash. I think he had a punctured lung and broken ribs and was in the hospital for awhile.

@Peerless28 Jeff, do we need a stand alone thread to talk about the green dragon race cars?

from vanderbiltcupraces.com 6/23/21

There's an original Instruction Book for sale on e-bay so old - it's the Peerless Manufacturing Co. - rather than Motor Car Co. I hope none of you old boys are holding a hot cup of tea....they want $499! Just hand over 5 c-notes to "hotmuncan15". What's neat is that there are some images of these early models...

@Peerless28 Jeff, this was so good I created a thread for it. Here is the eBay link:

$13.49 on E-Bay - - Peerless spent a million dollars developing the 1929 "Six-61" and sales exceeded the factory's ability to fill all the orders. 4,000 of them had to be titled as 1930s. Apparently it paid to have a model in the price range of a Series 116 Buick or a Reo Wolverine. There are only 3 of these still around in Roadster form....seeing one will make you realize what a home run they were.

An Autolite Distributor for a 1927 Peerless Mod. 6-60 F/S on ebay for $74.99, OBO. Model sold in 1927 & 1928.
Seller is American Vintage Parts, Commerce, GA. There is a collector with The 3 Ps in St. Louis who has a
1928 6-60 Sedan he bought from the Pioneer Auto Show Museum in Murdo, SD recently.
The same guys also have one for a Mod. 8-67 [see 2nd photo...price $99.99]. That's the 3rd of 4 iterations of the Peerless V-8. TECHNICALLY, these Peerless V-Type Eights were the company's most numerous product (34,000 cars spanning 1916-1928). ........so finding cars to match this distributor should be easy. IN PRACTICE, we have only 2 of these 1925 8-67s known to have survived, according to KPAIE. 1 in Denmark(a 7-P Sedan owned by Hans Peter Nielsen) and 1 in Poland. The Eight-67 version cost $4,250, incorporated the vibration-free 90-degree crankshafts and was called the Equipoised Eight.
[note to A.J., 8-67 owner in Poland: Stanislaw Waligora, info@waligora.pl]

@Peerless28 If I owned one of those cars I would grab that as a spare.

Here is a postcard describing an epic Peerless on a tour in 1976:

Some of the Peerless Society members will recognize the 1914 Peerless here, having seen it in the Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum in Cleveland. It's a Model "60-Six" - with an 825 Cu. In./13.5 Liter engine - largest engine ever in a production automobile.
In 2013, 1909 Peerless owner David Baird arranged with the museum's Curator of Transportation, Derek Moore, to open up the Crawford on a day they were closed and we got to look at the "60-Six" up close. Wonderful experience! I don't know how David pulled that off. Derek is a Peerless Society member now. David and I were on our way to the Hershey Meet with a 1909 Peerless and 1917 Pierce-Arrow in tow, to display in the Peerless Motor Car Club tent for 3 days. Unfortunately, Mr. Baird passed away in 2014, after promoting the Peerless Club and Company to new levels for 2 or 3 years.

7/2/26: A 1960s Reprint of a 1913 Peerless Photo For Sale On Ebay.
One of the summa cum laude Brass Era Peerless models, a 48-Six. A couple of notable people have owned it including Henry Austin Clark, Jr. and Don Sommer.

Another E-Bay Find
Magazine Ad for a 1930 Peerless Custom Eight. 7/2/26 from Paper Ad Chase at $15.95.
Artist: Anton Bruehl. When the ad campaign for the all-straight-8 1930 Peerlesses began....there were no finished cars, because model changeover was taking longer than planned. So an artist & fashion photographer was hired to make scale models of the cars and pose them with realistic backgrounds like this. Eventually, they had some full-size subjects, but this is probably a May 1930 Saturday Evening Post.
