J diag electrical test tool P 100 screen repair

Excellent. Thank you for posting. I have used low voltage tools for continuity testing and I have a battery tester for voltage at the battery but it is cumbersome and checking voltage at other parts of the electrical system with it is hard. I have been watching the vintage simpson multi-meters on eBay and may jump on a good one of those. The modern multi-meters (that you would buy at home depot) are all digital and sometimes they give the wrong result.

On a related note I have become infatuated with vintage test equipment. This is my Sun Motor Tester. It was restored by a smart guy and all of the testers work.

@alsancle Very cool!

@alsancle We need a vintage tool club.

@alsancle That's really cool. I have that machines big brother with a boom that swings out over it and has a 2 gas emissions analyzer. I wish I still had the distributor machine that went with it.

Nice save! I think I would have been scared to pull that apart.

@dj1970 yeah I agree but I figured what did I have to loose lol

Looking forward to the next video.

I see a wide variety of prices when I google these. Is this the pro model? Do you know the differences?

@Miles1978 I'm not sure about that. The model is P100. I have also seen a wide variety of prices. I thought I paid like 60-70 for that one but I see others online for $19. I'd buy a cheap one if I was doing it again. It is a very useful tool but I done think the hobbiest needs to spend a fortune on it

Looking forward to the next video.

I did not know about this tool, Although it looks like it might only be 12V? Which won't help us guys with 6V cars. Still interested to see how it works.

@REORoyaleFan I'll make another video on its features. The 6 volt is a good idea. I know it wasn't made for that but I wonder if it would work. I'll have to hook it up to my 53 Hudson and see.

@59redwing Wondering how this tool is different than a multi-meter? I've been waiting for the right Simpson to show up on eBay. They are anywhere from 20 bucks for one that doesn't work in to the 200s like this one here.

@alsancle it performs many of the same functions. A couple things I find useful is that it will not only detect power but will detect ground without having to hook up the meter differently. Also the ability to apply power or ground to a circuit is very useful.
