100 mile round trip, 50 one way in an 812 Cord and 50 in a PII RR. 6 years apart yet so completely different. 29 degrees out. I froze my ass of in the Cord as I didn't roll up the passenger side window. I always leave the drive side down on all old cars to hand single. The RR has a heater and I actually got hot. 1. The RR was 6 times as expensive as the Cord. And weighs almost twice as much. 2. The RR engine is 468 cubes vs the Cord's 288, but the Cord is much much faster. 3. A sorted preselector in a Cord is a thing of wonder. The RR 4 speed with the clutch brake takes a lot of practice. 4. The RR is roomier and a more pleasant ride. The Cord is cramped in some ways but much easier to handle. 5. The Rolls will loaf along at 50 mph comfortably. The Cord loafs along at 60 with the overdrive 4th gear.
